I think a document or a piece of text should keep its original metadata,
even if it is exported. In the case of my project, authors will be creating
learning objects (a sort of building blocks to create courses) which may be
used by other teachers and trainers. To facilliate the generation of
metadata, some metadata items are acquired by the containing folder. E.g.
all learning objects in one folder are likely to have the same discipline,
publishing institution and copyrights. By acquisiton they will automatically
share these metadata items. But if such a learning objects are exported and
used in another system, the original metadata should remain (copyrights
etc.).
