Which context area you referring to?

Do you mean that the mapping from content-type to renderer code can be
overridden in a publication lower in the tree?

Some mapping from content-type (meta_type in Silva) to renderer.
I'm not sure what 'renderer' would be like -- possibly a simple path
to some Python script.

If you're going to think more fancy pipelines of XSLT-s plugged together,
say, then we need something more fancy. I'd explore Python-space to
see if something cocoony is available. Or at least ask Paul Everitt for
links. :)
