Um, if this is the only way to do an upgrade, we need to fix this. 
Copying Silva content into a new root is very finicky indeed, and may 
break catalog references, caches, and all sorts of other things.

I think throwing away the service (service_renderer_registry) and doing 
a refresh all might work though, doesn't it?
